Harrison’s Bar Mitzvah: November 3, 2019
I had not met Harrison before this event, but his parents and I go way back. It was totally fun to reconnect on this crisp fall morning for a wonderful celebration. Rabbi Yossi Sapirman and Cantor Ben Silverberg ventured south from Beth Torah to bring this whole event together, and together it came. Harrison was the man, holding his own in the beautiful Montecito Restaurant (partly owned by director Ivan Reitman, I believe). It’s a pretty cool venue for a mitzvah, I always like these spaces that the trendy families take over for the day. Ceremony done, everyone headed upstairs for some schmoozing, listening to the stellar sounds of King Harvest playing in the back ground. These boys can swing, rock, jam, whatever, and them too I have known for a long time. Some games, drinks, nosh, and then back down to the main restaurant for a real lunch. This is a great Toronto restaurant, say no more. Check out the table cards, someone had some real creativity. Great food, warm speeches, and close friends; amazing day. Mazel Tov, guys.
