Shafer & Brody’s B’nei Mitzvah: September 1, 2019

Photographed by Jonni Super & Justine Apple

This was a drawn-out event over three days and four locations (because three is never enough). The rehearsal day at the Pride of Israel Synagogue was a delight before heading off to the Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens for some outdoor family fun. The big day arrived and the boys were in fine form; present and accounted for.  They were both amazing, of course.  By the way, the amount of detail these parents laboured over should not be understated, from cakes to candles, kippot to tallisim, everything was taken into account, they definitely brought their A-Game. Ok, back to the mitzvah… so party we did after the ceremony with Bounce Entertainment, with fabulous Carson blowin’ the sax. There was less than 24 hours to rest before hitting the eZone… and speaking thereof, the eZone is one giant kid fun-fest; WhirlyBall, Laser Tag, Arcade, Table Tennis, etc, all the toys that boys (and girls) love.  We (kids and parents) had a blast…. and that pretty much wraps up two mitzvahs in one, Mazel Tov, guys!!

•Advice for Future Mitzvahs: “It’s your simcha so do whatever you want. Make it fun. At the shul we had balloons and a waffle station with fun toppings, cake pops, chocolate covered marshmallows with sprinkles and a very creative 3D cake. At the kids’ party the next day we had pizza, chips, an ice cream sundae bar and another creative cake.”
