Jenna’s Bat Mitzvah: November 11, 2019 This was a wild and wonderful party at Avani Event Centre for an amazing young woman.  We started with some photos outside in the (quite) bitter cold, before heading inside for the warmer climate.  The theme was all white portraits, and white it was.  We managed to get all family portraits done before Moshe Sadaan was to officiate over the mitzvah ceremony, and the craziness of a Magen Boys party took hold.  The food was delicious, the dancing exuberant, the speeches funny, and overall a fantastic celebration.  Raquel Sananes Grad from RSG Events was on hand to tie this party together beautifully.  Way to go, guys.  Mazel Tov.   The Story of Jenna’s Bat Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE

Lily’s Bat Mitzvah: November 16, 2019 Lily’s bat mitzvah was held at the new Habonim Congregation Synagogue, and this space rocks… for photography.  It is bright and spacious, so easy to photograph in.  I started off photographing Lily, her sister and parents before the guests started rolling in.  Rabbi Eli Rubenstein ran the service with humour and style as he usually does, and as usual the wonderful stringwork of Tom Bellman and voice of Aviva Rajsky brought this ceremony home. Lily was great, nervous energy made way for a special, warm connection with all the family and friends that were there.  Lunch was delicious while we were entertained by the sweet sounds of King Harvest playing in the background. Dylan’s Bat Mitzvah: November 10, 2019 My 3rd and final rendezvous with this family, and we are done… for now.  Such a fantastic night at the Bayview Golf & Country Club!! Dylan was great, we headed out into the crisp evening for some ‘Dylan’ photos before joining everyone inside for family portraits.  The ceremony was officiated by the ever pleasant Moshe Saadon, and the party tied together beautifully by Aja Zylberberg.  Everyone was ready to go, and Sole Power was on hand to lay down the party… and party hard we did.  The night rose to a crescendo which culminated, most of those in attendance would say, with the presentation of a new French Bulldog puppy into the family, I had not seen that before.  Puppy aside, we carried on into the wee hours, and then it was done, and home we did go.  Mazel Tov, guys.  I’ve enjoyed all 3 kids’ events.   The Story of Dylan’s Bat Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE   •Event Planner: Aja Zylberberg at AAvents •Photographer: Jonni Super & Justine Apple         •Venue: Bayview Golf & Country Club •Rabbi: Moshe Saadon

Tiffany put her amazing spin on the evening, and K-man / breakdancer extraordinaire was on hand to show the crowd what real dancing is all about.  We partied long and hard, and finally it was done. Adam’s Bar Mitzvah: October 26, 2019 Adam’s rehearsal took place at the City Shul under the guidance of Rabbi Elyse Goldstein.  She runs a tight rehearsal and this was no different.  The shul space does make for some interesting photography, it’s pretty dark in there which forces me to be creative… and I love it.  Once rehearsal was done, we headed out (into the cold) for a few minutes just to get some outdoor pictures.  The party was at The Rosehill Club in Midtown Toronto.  This is a pretty cool venue, delicious food, and an interesting space.  The Party Crew was on hand and just went all out with this crowd.  The accompanying violin and saxophone were the ‘vico in crustulam’.  The charming Bar Belopolski, event planner extraordinaire, tied this together beautifully.  Adam was in fine form, and had the party of his life… so far.  Mazel Tov, guys.   The Story of Adam’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE   •Decor: Glitz and Glam    •DJ Entertainment: Party Crew Entertainment   •Makeup: TK Glam    •Event Planner: Glorious Events     •Photographer: Jonni Super   •Venue: The Rosehill     •Caterer: Encore Catering    •Rabbi: Elyse Goldstein   •Party favours: Double Chocolate Fountain

Harrison’s Bar Mitzvah: November 3, 2019 I had not met Harrison before this event, but his parents and I go way back.  It was totally fun to reconnect on this crisp fall morning for a wonderful celebration.  Rabbi Yossi Sapirman and Cantor Ben Silverberg ventured south from Beth Torah to bring this whole event together, and together it came.  Harrison was the man, holding his own in the beautiful Montecito Restaurant (partly owned by director Ivan Reitman, I believe).  It’s a pretty cool venue for a mitzvah, I always like these spaces that the trendy families take over for the day.  Ceremony done, everyone headed upstairs for some schmoozing, listening to the stellar sounds of King Harvest playing in the back ground.  These boys can swing, rock, jam, whatever, and them too I have known for a long time.  Some games, drinks, nosh, and then back down to the main restaurant for a real lunch.   This is a great Toronto restaurant, say no more.  Check out the table cards, someone had some real creativity.  Great food, warm speeches, and close friends; amazing day.  Mazel Tov, guys.   The Story of Harrison’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE […]

Shafer & Brody’s B’nei Mitzvah: September 1, 2019 Photographed by Jonni Super & Justine Apple This was a drawn-out event over three days and four locations (because three is never enough). The rehearsal day at the Pride of Israel Synagogue was a delight before heading off to the Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens for some outdoor family fun. The big day arrived and the boys were in fine form; present and accounted for.  They were both amazing, of course.  By the way, the amount of detail these parents laboured over should not be understated, from cakes to candles, kippot to tallisim, everything was taken into account, they definitely brought their A-Game. Ok, back to the mitzvah… so party we did after the ceremony with Bounce Entertainment, with fabulous Carson blowin’ the sax. There was less than 24 hours to rest before hitting the eZone… and speaking thereof, the eZone is one giant kid fun-fest; WhirlyBall, Laser Tag, Arcade, Table Tennis, etc, all the toys that boys (and girls) love.  We (kids and parents) had a blast…. and that pretty much wraps up two mitzvahs in one, Mazel Tov, guys!!   The Story of Shafer & Brody’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the […]
