Jonah’s Bar Mitzvah: Dec 10, 2017 I photographed Jonah’s bar mitzvah rehearsal at this beautiful synagogue north of Toronto, the Zichron Yisroel Congregation. The blue walls always look fantastic.   It just so happened that e-Zone party a few days later offered up the same  striking blue background, so of course we took it advantage of that wall too. Jonah was in fine form, a bright and polite young man who together with his brother, must give their parents a run for their money, I’m sure the household does not offer a dull moment between these two, with sports and approaching teenage years.  These were two really special nights, thanks for having me photograph you guys.   The Story of Jonah’s Bar Mitzvah HERE All Photos HERE   •Cake: Amazing Donuts •Clothing (Mitzvah): North Boys •Shoes (Mitzvah): The Shoe Company •Clothing (Mom): Modella Ladieswear •Clothing (Dad): Studio on 7 •Decor: Happy Days •Florist: Toronto Florist Shop •Invitations: Gemini Print •Makeup: Orly Waldman •Hair: David Scott •Photographer: Jonni Super •Venue: Zichron Yisroel Congregation, The eZone •Caterer: Taam Tov, Tov-Li

Ellie’s Bat Mitzvah: Nov 18, 2017 Ellie’s bat mitzvah was a pretty wild and crazy affair. She is one special young lady who has now become of age… watch out world. We had a lovely rehearsal and portrait session at the Beach Hebrew Institute, a nice and quaint little synagogue in Toronto, and then the party at the Hot House.  Pure Entertainment was the MC and totally brought the roof down on this little restaurant. The food was spectacular as to be expected, the atmosphere exuberant as to be expected, the crowd was warm and inviting as to be expected, and the evening was just awesome.  Way to go, Ellie!!!   The Story of Ellie’s Bat Mitzvah HERE All Photos HERE   •Decor: Craig Gruzd and DT Floral and Décor •DJ Entertainment: Lucas Margolis of Pure Entertainment  •Invitations: Paper Ideas  •Makeup: Orly Waldman •Photographer: Jonni Super  •Venue: The Hot House Restaurant  •Rabbi: Moshe Saadon •Synagogue: The Beach Synagogue

Rachel’s Bat Mitzvah: Nov 25, 2017 I loved photographing this family in the park, followed by a rehearsal, and then a few weeks later, the portraits, ceremony, and party.  I got to spend quite a bit of time with them, (ironically I passed their house often to avoid the Eglington / Bathurst  construction mess) … and enjoyed every minute.  Rachel is one little rising star, ready to take on the world, her little sister Erin is just waiting in the wings. Both kids are delightful, playing it up for the camera and enjoying every second.  We headed to the Alexander Muir park before the fall temperature got too cold and had a wonderful session as the fall colours encroached. The rehearsal and ceremony at Beth Tzedec it was a joy, and then finally the Magen Boys party after the ceremony topped off a few weeks of fun.  Rachel, well done!! Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah: November 11, 2017 Jacob’s bar mitzvah took place on a crisp November morning at the Donalda Club. A perfect opportunity to photograph the fall colours in Toronto, we had a fun time outside, just laughing and having fun. Jacob and his brother are like two peas in a pod, at least in front of the camera. Playing it up and joking around was the order of the day. Once inside, we were more serious, and we settled in for some portraits in the alcove before heading into the ceremony.  The ceremony was warm and inviting, with beautiful guitar played by Tom Bellman to accompany the service. Lunch of course it was delicious and the ambiance; majestic.  Mazel Tov, guys.   The Story of the Day HERE All Photos HERE   Venue: Donalda Club Photographer: Jonni Super Caterer: Donalda Club Rabbi: Eli Rubenstein

The Road to Harrison’s Bar Mitzvah: Oct 7 & Nov 23, 2017 I’ve known Harrison’s dad for over 30 years, and we recently reconnected at the Camp Northland Alumni Dinner, but it was really special for me to spend time with the family both outdoors at the Alexander Muir Park and then a few weeks later at Har Zion to photograph Harrison’s mitzvah rehearsal.  The park is truly amazing, I love photographing here; so lush and green.  These guys were having a grand old time just laughing and kicking it back; very chilled family, they are.  The rehearsal was, notwithstanding my rushing to get there, pretty laid back and fun.  Guys, I had a blast.  You are really a warm and loving family. Talia’s Bat Mitzvah: Nov 4, 2017 Well I have to say, this was one rocking party. We started off at Talia’s home with some fantastic family photos, both inside and outside. It happened to be a cold day but that didn’t stop us shooting a few hoops along the way. We made our way to Beth Torah where Rabbi Yossi Sapirman lead the congregation in the most warm and inclusive Havdalah service. Always love this synagogue!  We moved into the party room where the Magen Boys were ready to make the night happen, and they did.  Talia was fantastic, a pleasure to photograph and I lovely young woman. Elan’s Bar Mitzvah: 25-29 Oct, 2017 Photographed by Ben Right from the get go I could tell this was not going to be your average 3 day family photo shoot.  With an off the wall father, fantastic bar mitzvah boy, amazing brother and sister, and a mom that holds the entire thing together, the Goldberg’s could really have a TV show to call their own.  The 3 day shoot included the rehearsal and ceremony at Temple Sinai, and party with the Magen Boys at the infamous E-Zone.  By the end of it all, I felt like I was part of the family.  I must admit, it felt a little weird that I wasn’t going to be seeing them again the next day.  High energy from day one till the end; laughs, smiles and good times had by all.  Thanks for letting me be part of the family, if only for 3 days.    The Story of Elan’s Mitzvah HERE All Photos HERE   •Cake: Cakes by Robert •Clothing (Mitzvah): Ed‘s Fine Imports •Shoes (Mitzvah): Browns •Clothing (Mom): The Bay •Clothing (Dad): Ed’s Fine Imports •DJ Entertainment: Magen Boys •Invitations: Zazzle.ca •Photographer: Ben Gaum •Specialty Food: Desserts by Sonny Langers   •Venue: Temple Sinai and EZone •Caterer: […]

Inside, the gorgeous chapel at synagogue was the perfect backdrop for this celebration. I love photographing here, so bright and spacious. Max did a great job reading from the Torah and performing just as he should.  A delicious lunch and lively hora followed.  I really love this family, so warm and giving, totally evident by what their guests and friends had to say about them. Nicole’s Bat Mitzvah: June 25, 2017 This was my last mitzvah of the season before summer camp and wedding season, and it was the perfect way to end the year. From the first photograph of the night so the last limbo, there was nothing too crazy or too wild which would not be tried. Nicole was amazing, spoke beautifully and carried the night with such grace. We took fantastic pictures outside before the party but she was just too anxious to see her friends so we cut it short, but who would’ve thought halfway through the evening, the fire alarm went off and we were all outside again. Hasn’t happened to me before but it made for a wonderful opportunity for Bounce Entertainment to bring out their two drummers and entertain the crowd as the sun set. Stunning!
