Ben’s Bar Mitzvah: December 13, 2024
…And here I am, back at the Family Shul. A beautiful synagogue to take photos of a wonderful family. Ben was ready to go, we went outside into the chilli fall weather to get some photos in the neighbourhood. Eventually we came back inside, took out the Torah, and got our Torah rehearsal photos out-of-the-way. Once good to go, we started to add in parents and a grandparent and an uncle to the mix. Ben was fantastic, so enthusiastic and warm. With torah pictures done, we did another quick walk outside for good measure before calling it a wrap and waiting for the main event on Saturday. Way to go guys, Mazal Tov.

Stella’s Bat Mitzvah: November 2, 2024
Stella’s bat mitzvah took place on a seasonally warm fall afternoon at Album Studios on Geary in downtown Toronto. Everyone arrived looking sharp and excited for the celebration ahead. We started off with a photo session of Stella who looked beautiful in her sparkly pink dress before moving onto photos with Lucy, her spunky little sister, and eventually parents, grandparents, and extended family. All against the fall back drop in the courtyard, everyone was so excited to be together for Stella special day. Rabbi Lorraine Rudenberg led the ceremony with warmth and charisma, and spoke words reflecting a deep familial love and tradition. Stella did a wonderful job reading from the Torah, and gave a meaningful D’var Torah filling the room with wisdom and insight. After the service, it was hora time before guests sat down to enjoy a delicious meal. Stella’s parents delivered a heartfelt speech filled with love and pride for the parents. There was a fantastic photo booth offered by Sweet Magic Photobooth, dancing, tasty desserts. By 8 PM, Stella’s friends arrived for a girls party with so much excitement to celebrate with their Bat Mitzvah girl. Tiffany from Bounce Entertainment amped up the energy on the dance floor and kept the girls dancing and laughing and celebrating well into the night. Mazal Tov Stella, quite the evening.

Sophie’s Bat Mitzvah: September 26, 2024
Sophie’s Bat Mitzvah took place at Beth Tikvah on a beautiful morning in September. The sun was shining, the air was warm, and everything was just perfect. My second time around with this family, and we were all well rehearsed. I took Sophie for a little walk around the synagogue before adding in some sisters and parents. We honestly just enjoyed ourselves before the ceremony, laughing and playing in front of my camera. Once that was done, we headed in for a ceremony where Sophie excelled. She read beautifully, carried herself with charm and grace, and made everyone proud. The ceremony wrapped and we all settled in for a delicious breakfast and some warm speeches. Sophie, you did an excellent job. Mazel tov.

Ryan’s Bar Mitzvah Rehearsal: April 4, 2024
It’s been quite a while since the beginning of this adventure in April and the end of this adventure in October but we are finally done. What started out as Ryan’s bar mitzvah rehearsal at Beth Tzedec a few days before his bar mitzvah, has ended with a beautiful family photo shoot in Cedarvale Park. We are done. Our bar mitzvah rehearsal was a hit, Ryan was fantastic reading from the Torah, just enjoying his moment in the spotlight. Once all the mitzvah balagan was over, we settled into a walk through Cedarville just as the fall leaves were coming into colour. Great time guys, mazel tov.

Lexi’s Bat Mitzvah Week: October 26, 2024
Day 1:
And so began my four-day escapade with Lexi and her wonderful family. Our adventure kicked off with a photography rehearsal at Holy Blossom. Toronto in the fall—what a showoff! The sunshine was extra generous, and the trees were throwing a full-on colour party. Everything went off without a hitch: Lexi nailed it, the family brought their A-game, and we wrapped up perfectly prepped for day two.
Day 2:
Enter Cedarvale Park, stage left. This place wasn’t just beautiful; it was showing off. Fire-engine-red trees stood like nature’s paparazzi backdrop, and we were the stars of the show. We twirled through sunbeams, dodged joggers, and exchanged pleasantries with curious passersby—all under the watchful gaze of my trusty partner, Stevie the GoldenD. Stars all around. Bring on day three!
Day 3:
Today’s vibe? Post-ceremony cool-down. We hit up Holy Blossom again for a celebratory lunch after Lexi crushed her bat mitzvah service. The pressure was off, and the mingling was on. Schmoozing, munching, and basking in the afterglow of success—we’d officially hit the halfway mark, and spirits were still flying high.
Day 4:
Cue the grand finale: a kids’ party at The Factory! Teri had this whole thing locked down like a pro. Before diving into the festivities, we captured some stunning family shots in the glorious outdoor light. Then it was go-time. The grandparents had their moment, but the kids stole the show. The hora? Iconic. The candy table? Legendary. The Magen Boys? Absolute rockstars. The energy soared, and Lexi owned it all with style.
By the end of the night, it hit me—this family had become my family for the week. Saying goodbye felt like the end of an epic summer camp, complete with post-party blues. Until we meet again, Lexi and crew. Mazel Tov!

Aiden’s Bar Mitzvah: September 19, 2024
Photos by: Justine and Jonni
On a crisp, sunny Fall morning, Aiden’s Bar Mitzvah kicked off at Beth Tzedec in midtown Toronto, and let me tell you, the vibe was sharp and buzzing with excitement. We kicked things off with a photo session featuring Aiden—our man of the hour—looking absolutely dapper in his blue suit and tie. Next up, family lineup! Siblings, parents, grandparents, and the whole extended crew—everyone got in on the action. And let’s not forget the adorable little cousins who were buzzing around, hyped up to share in Aiden’s big day. As guests trickled in, we made our way to the cozy Chapel downstairs for the main event. The Rabbi welcomed everyone, and the ceremony was pure magic. Aiden absolutely crushed his Torah reading and nailed his D’var Torah. Proud family smiles all around—seriously, their faces could’ve lit up the entire room! Post-ceremony, it was time to eat! We headed upstairs to a brunch spread that dreams are made of: bagels, lox, tuna, egg salad, cream cheese—you name it! And don’t even get me started on the desserts. Fast-forward a few weeks, and the party train rolled into the Ezone in Etobicoke, where I reconnected with the fam for round two: an epic celebration. The Ezone is always a blast (I mean, who doesn’t love a bit of Whirlyball?), and this was my first time back since summer. Aiden and I scouted the place while we waited for his crew to show up. Once they did, it was full-throttle fun! From laser tag to golf, basketball, and pool, I was running around capturing it all. The whole party had this editorial, high-energy feel, and everyone brought their A-game. What a way to wrap up the weekend! Huge mazel tov to Aiden and the whole family—y’all crushed it!

Audrey’s Cirque Mitzvah Party: September 15, 2024
So I knew going into this event that this would be one for the record books when I look back on the year, and it did not disappoint. No stone was left unturned, no detail was left to chance, this was going to be a Cirque d’Audrey. We met down at Ricarda’s Restaurant in the late afternoon as everyone was setting up for the evening, and there were definitely a lot of people setting up, a full circus was underway. This whole adventure was managed delicately by Gloria Benaim, who tied this party together beautifully. Eventually, Audrey came down for some photos, and we headed outside onto Queen Street and into the downtown core. just fun walking around with a bat mitzvah girl. Her parents and partners finally arrived and the show was good to go. Family pictures done, it was time to celebrate. Lots of schmoozing with cirque performance intermingling. Delicious appetizers were passed around, the kids lined up at the personalized basketballs and Sephora store to cash in on some goodies. Finally, Audrey made her grand appearance with some dancers and Justin Barkie Experience was underway. The night went forward without a hitch, Cirque d’Audrey did their performances, lots of toys and games and laser beams and dancers and all kinds of craziness ensued. Warm speeches, delicious food, and a night that no one will forget. Mazel tov Audrey, way to go.
