Marley’s Bat Mitzvah: June 22, 2019<\/span><\/p>\n

This was of course a special Bat Mitzvah, it was my eldest daughter Marley… finally coming of age.\u00a0 We organized the whole thing ourselves with help from friends in the industry and Marley’s Zaidie, Jerry, who wrote and officiated the event… and the event was spectacular.\u00a0 We took over the Archeo Restaurant<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in the Distillery District<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0for the day.\u00a0 Marley and I headed down early to meet my friend and photographer, Franc Natale<\/strong><\/span> (who came out of ‘retirement’ to photograph for us.. yes!!!).\u00a0 I had my camera on hand for a bit, but had to put it away when I became the subject of the photos myself.\u00a0 So… the family all wandered around the Distillery in the morning sun, using the many areas, corners, and spaces for photography.\u00a0 The Distillery is probably one of the most interesting venues in the city.\u00a0 The big family joined us for portraits, until we were 7 families in total; 14 kids, 12 adults, and 2 sets of grandparents.\u00a0 Franc had planned to take off around then, and my colleague Rob Ackerman<\/strong><\/span> took up position behind the lens.\u00a0 The ceremony finally underway; the sun shining, the guitar playing, everyone singing, people coming up lighting, Marley reciting, everything just came together splendidly under the watchful eye of Karen<\/strong><\/span> from 2-Steps Ahead Event Planning<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, who was on call with us for the day. It was truly a special and intimate ceremony, full of heartfelt warmth and kindness. Lunch in the Distillery is quite delicious, and this was no exception.\u00a0 We ate and drank and laughed and cried, glasses and chairs were raised with vigour, speeches were spoken, more crying, Kenny Munshaw<\/strong><\/span><\/a> tickled (do they still use that phrase?) the ivories (are they actually ivory these days?) and sang up a storm. Steve from FunPhoto<\/strong><\/span><\/a> was on hand with the photo-booth, and Rob Fishbaum, aka Fish the Magish<\/strong><\/span><\/a> magically worked the room to everyone’s delight.\u00a0 Mazel tov Marley, you really rose to the occasion, carried yourself with grace, spoke beautifully, charmed the crowd, just what I expected.\u00a0 A most excellent time had by all.\u00a0 Now we regroup and get ready for #2 in 2021. Indie, you’re up!!<\/p>\n
