Indie’s Bat Mitzvah: May 29, 2021<\/span><\/p>\n

So my beautiful daughter Indie had her bat mitzvah in the backyard of her Boobie\u2019s house on a beautiful Saturday summer afternoon.\u00a0 <\/span>As with all events COVID, the planning changed back and forth over the months, but finally the big day arrived.\u00a0 <\/span>Indie looked perfect, new blue dress, great kicks, ready to go. The charming Arlene Moshe<\/strong><\/span><\/a> was on hand to deliver my daughter into womanhood.\u00a0 <\/span>We started out on the street, the kids having fun with photographer Justine Apple<\/strong><\/span> before heading into the back where the service took place.\u00a0 <\/span>This was an unusual COVID mitzvah; grandparents and some of Indie\u2019s friends.\u00a0 <\/span>Too close to camp, we will wait for the cousin lunch on another day.\u00a0 <\/span>The ceremony was homegrown, some guitar, poetry, and song, all delivered with passion and emotion.\u00a0 <\/span>Indie had been working on the Beatles\u2019 Blackbird<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/span> which she played perfectly.\u00a0 <\/span>Her d\u2019var torah was unseen to us, and predictably poignant and emotive.\u00a0 <\/span>Some friends speeches, some sibling speeches, some parent speeches, and we were into he home stretch.\u00a0 <\/span>I personally had to scour the photo archives for appropriate memories of days gone by, the usual ZOOM goodbyes, and it was party time.\u00a0 <\/span>I took Indie\u2019s girls out for a little photo shoot before delicious dinner, hora, dancing, and a celebration into the night.\u00a0 <\/span>Mazel Tov, Pin, you were the star tonight.<\/p>\n
