Alyssa’s Bat Mitzvah: September 4, 2022<\/span><\/p>\n

The insanity prevailed again this fine evening at the Grand Luxe<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, \u201ca night to remember<\/em>\u201d was oft quoted by those in attendance.\u00a0 <\/span>As was \u201chere we go again<\/em>\u201d\u2026 and again we did go.\u00a0 <\/span>My second time around with this family, and the ante was upped just a bit, but slow down we must\u2026 let’s start at the beginning.<\/p>\n

This outing began at a rehearsal at Adath Israel<\/strong><\/span><\/a> on Friday afternoon, a glorious day by Toronto standards.\u00a0 <\/span>We met, we laughed, we wandered, we photographed, we just had so much fun that the next outing, Sunday night, would seal the deal.\u00a0 <\/span>Sunday was the day when insanity prevailed, it was a literal open mic for theatre singers and aspiring wanna-bees.\u00a0 <\/span>And we have not yet addressed the woman of the hour, Alyssa.\u00a0 <\/span>She was spectacular on both occasions, read a beautiful torah portion at rehearsal, and kicked it up onstage with the rest of the family.\u00a0 <\/span>Magen Boys<\/strong><\/span><\/a> held court, specifically Chief Boy himself, Paige<\/strong><\/span>, as Karen Rachlin<\/strong><\/span><\/a> conducted the behind the scenes with effortless aplomb. This was just one outstanding party by everyone\u2019s standards. Singers from Evan Hanson dropped by (when does that ever happen<\/em>?), there was confetti, candy to fill a boat, some well rehearsed original lyrics to old show tunes, just all around craziness.\u00a0 Alyssa, you were fantastic. <\/span>Can\u2019t wait for the next one, mazel tov guys.<\/p>\n
