Eva’s Bat Mitzvah Luncheon: Sept 8, 2019 Sadly my ‘mitzvah time’ with these guys has come to and end.  Eva was the third and final bat mitzvah, the end of an era.  Just like in previous years, we met at the house for some family photos before meeting the rest of the family and feasting. This was a beautiful sunny morning, and Eva looked gorgeous. These three girls have grown up into beautiful, mature (dare I say), personable women, so nice to see. I feel as if I’ve been there along the way. We photographed the family at home and then met up with the gang at Earl Bales Park for some big group photos. Once that was done, off to Paese Restaurant we ventured. Delicious food, loving family and friends, sincere speeches, just a special time had by all. Now we wait for the weddings 🙂   The Story of Eva’s Bat Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE

Max’s Bar Mitzvah Rehearsal: September 6, 2019 This rehearsal took place at a synagogue I have never been to before, the Village Shul in Forest Hill.  It’s very stylishly modern, I might add. Pretty cool on the inside with a wonderful view of Eglinton from the rooftop garden.  Max was good to go, photos with the Torah and parents and grandparents, then onto the rooftop patio we did venture, before heading back to the house for some formal-ish family portraits albeit some with a dog in tow. I’m sure the Saturday went splendidly.  Mazel Tov!   The Story of Max’s Bar Mitzvah Rehearsal: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE

Shafer & Brody’s B’nei Mitzvah: September 1, 2019 Photographed by Jonni Super & Justine Apple This was a drawn-out event over three days and four locations (because three is never enough). The rehearsal day at the Pride of Israel Synagogue was a delight before heading off to the Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens for some outdoor family fun. The big day arrived and the boys were in fine form; present and accounted for.  They were both amazing, of course.  By the way, the amount of detail these parents laboured over should not be understated, from cakes to candles, kippot to tallisim, everything was taken into account, they definitely brought their A-Game. Ok, back to the mitzvah… so party we did after the ceremony with Bounce Entertainment, with fabulous Carson blowin’ the sax. There was less than 24 hours to rest before hitting the eZone… and speaking thereof, the eZone is one giant kid fun-fest; WhirlyBall, Laser Tag, Arcade, Table Tennis, etc, all the toys that boys (and girls) love.  We (kids and parents) had a blast…. and that pretty much wraps up two mitzvahs in one, Mazel Tov, guys!!   The Story of Shafer & Brody’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the […]

Ruben & Evan’s B’nei Mitzvah: August 15, 2019 Photos by: Jonni Super & Justine Apple This was an awesome rehearsal and ceremony on a Monday and Thursday in August.  Two families converged on the very bright Beth David Synagogue in Toronto, and had the auspicious honour of being the first cousin b’nei mitvah to be held there.  The rehearsal was all fun and games, both Ruben and Evan were ready to go, practicing for the big day.  Come Thursday ceremony, and we were a much bigger crowd, but all smiles and grins.  Everything went according to plan, both boys really stepped up to the plate.  Ceremony over, and we all moved next door to enjoy a fantastic meal.  Family friends, Darren Kagal & Jeff Goldstein performed the music.  Mazel Tov guys, way to go!!   The Story of Ruben & Evan’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE

Evan’s Bar Mitzvah: June 20, 2019 Evan’s bar mitzvah took place one crisp morning at the Richmond Hill Golf & Country Club.  I love photographing up here, the ceremony is usually in an open space which invites some photographically interesting angles, and the luncheon is usually in that open room overlooking the golf course. Evan was in great form, we walked around outside and got some photos before heading inside for some family pics. Ceremony was run superbly by Moshe Sadaan; always inclusive and inviting. Food was delicious, the guests were charming, speeches were warn, and a great day was had by all. Mazel Tov!!   The Story of Evan’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE

Marley’s Bat Mitzvah: June 22, 2019 Photographed by Rob Ackerman & Franc Natale This was of course a special Bat Mitzvah, it was my eldest daughter Marley… finally coming of age.  We organized the whole thing ourselves with help from friends in the industry and Marley’s Zaidie, Jerry, who wrote and officiated the event… and the event was spectacular.  We took over the Archeo Restaurant in the Distillery District for the day.  Marley and I headed down early to meet my friend and photographer, Franc Natale (who came out of ‘retirement’ to photograph for us.. yes!!!).  I had my camera on hand for a bit, but had to put it away when I became the subject of the photos myself.  So… the family all wandered around the Distillery in the morning sun, using the many areas, corners, and spaces for photography.  The Distillery is probably one of the most interesting venues in the city.  The big family joined us for portraits, until we were 7 families in total; 14 kids, 12 adults, and 2 sets of grandparents.  Franc had planned to take off around then, and my colleague Rob Ackerman took up position behind the lens.  The ceremony finally underway; the […]

The weather was spectacular so Riley and I started off outside, green, green, and more green to be used as a backdrop. We went inside for some torah time, the classic bat mitzvah photos. Riley was poised and graceful, looked fabulous and delivered. We finally wrapped it up with some family photos before heading home and resting a few days before the party… and what a party at was!  It took place at The Showroom, another fantastic venue in Toronto. (Ya gotta love the backlighting that one gets from the stage.)  We took some family photos outside against more lush green of the Toronto summer, before heading inside to party down. Myles’ Bar Mitzvah: June 6, 2019 I had a great time at Myles’ bar mitzvah.  The morning service was held Miles’ house, in a giant tent, with Moshe Saadan officiating. Cantor Moshe Saadon officiated over the ceremony which was, as usual, very warm and special. It’s nice to have a bar mitzvah in one’s home, makes for a very cosy space for friends and family.
