Taylor’s Bat Mitzvah: May 6, 2022 It’s always exciting to visit a new synagogue, and this one did not disappoint.  Chabad Bayview is new to me, built just a few years ago.  Quite stunning, I might add, but not as stunning as the bat mitzvah girl, Taylor.  She looked amazing at part one of the two part bat mitzvah.  Friday evening was the ceremony at Chabad Bayview, an occasion filled with love and joy.  Taylor and I had our little photoshoot before adding in the rest of the family… and a large family that was.  Triplets, how often does that happen? Don’t reach for Google, I looked it up, 1 in 10,000. Back to the mitzvah. So, lovely photos of the whole gang before we headed in to the ceremony.  Shabbat was about to start, so photos were over.  I met up with everyone post Shabbat at the Warehouse.  Not been back here in a while, (COVID), but now it was game on.  What a party.  David Monaco of Magen Boys was holding court.  Jessica Baker kept the evening moving in perfect step, and the party went off without a hitch.  Everyone looked amazing and went all out at this […]

Jaime’s Bat Mitzvah: May 1, 2022 I met up with Jaime’s family on bat mitzvah morning at Beth Radom. Jaime and I did a little tour of the outside of the synagogue before some sib pix, and then inviting the rest of the family into to our photo session.  Once that was done, we headed into Beth Radom for the ceremony.  Jaime was amazing, nailed it!!  Ceremony over, it was time to party, and party we did. A quick drive over to Petah Tikvah for a luncheon and dance party.  So this is when everyone let their hair down; the dancing, speeches, candy, non-stop fun.  Jaime, you were amazing, mazel tov.   The Story of Jaime’s Bat Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE   •Invitations: Greenvelope •Makeup: Candice Torch   •Hair: Candice Torch  •Photographer: Jonni Super  •DJ Entertainment: Bounce Jarred •Venue: Bath Radom and Petah Tikvah  •Caterer: Ely’s •Cake: Surreal Sweets •Specialty Food: Amazing Donuts

Elan’s Bar Mitzvah: May 1, 2022 Photos by: Justine Apple Elan’s Bar Mitzvah took place on a brisk spring morning at Beth David Synagogue. We started off with family photos outside. I had a lot of fun with Elan, his sister Jasmine, and his parents. Elan was a pleasure to work with, friendly, funny, considerate, and open to my photography direction.  After the family shots, we went inside for the service. Michael Rubin made a welcoming introduction to the 60 or so guests, and the morning service proceeded smoothly. Elan did an excellent job reading his parsha, making his family very proud. After the service, we went next door for a Kiddush lunch. The food was plentiful and delicious, and Elan’s parents spoke lovingly about their son. Mazal Tov, Elan!   The Story of Elan’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE

Liv’s Bat Mitzvah: April 30, 2022 So this was a bat mitzvah in three parts. We had a fantastic rehearsal at Temple Sinai, this was followed up by a fantastic luncheon after the ceremony a few days later, and then to The Factory for the party.  So, to recap… the rehearsal was flawless, we wandered around outside in the garden and enjoyed the summer sun, taking photos and laughing. We finally went inside for a little taste of the Torah. The luncheon brought fourth a different experience, the jazz trio’s presence was usurped by Liv’s brother on piano, and her cousin and uncle on drums and bass respectively. Quite the musical family, and I know this from personal experience…and then to the party. The factory is a pretty cool place to hold an event, we photographed outside before sunset, portraits of grandparents and cousins and extended family, and then it was inside for the entrance, the hora, various speeches, snacks and dinner and dancing and everything that goes with it. Magan Boys were on hand to hold down party duties and as usual, killed it. Liv, amazing few days hanging with you guys.   The Story of Liv’s Bat Mitzvah: […]

Orly’s Bat Mitzvah: April 9, 2022 This was a pretty crazy few days, from the rehearsal at the Leo Baeck School while the Narayever Synagogue is being renovated, to the fantastic dinner party at the York Mills Gallery. It all begins with Orly being a great kid and a good sport. We started at the rehearsal with torah pictures with the immediate family and grandmothers.  Finally heading out into a somewhat chilly and windy late afternoon where we managed some photos in the park before calling it a day. We met up a few days later at the York Mills Gallery.  I love this venue, YMG created a great little brick parkette out front, which makes for a great location for family photos. Once all that was done, YMG was ready for the power of Orl.  Sole Power was on hand to lay down some tunes, and the night was off.  Hora, dancing, speeches, an amazing fun party atmosphere.  Orly, you were fantastic, mazel tov!!   The Story of Orly’s Bat Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE   •Clothing (Mitzvah): Dress – North Girls Clothing Store •Shoes (Mitzvah): Nike  •Invitations: Paperless Post       •Hair & Makeup: Suzanne Cyr •Decor: […]

Oliver’s Bar Mitzvah: April 9, 2022 This bar mitzvah was so much fun, the parents I have known for over 20 years, and it was so special to be included in the festivities.  We all met at the Bayview Golf Club for an havdalah service presided over by the delightful Arlene Moshe.  Oliver and I headed out for a little walk-about, taking photos as we strolled.  One trip around the synagogue, and Oliver’s brother joined us for more photography adventures.   Then the big family rolled up to wrap things up.  We headed inside for a fantastic ceremony as Arlene always delivers.  This was the mitzvah of the beautiful music, and it did not disappoint.  Dinner was delish, and a chilled cocktail party where schmoozing was the main activity.  Guys, the best.  Mazel tov, Oliver.   The Story of Oliver’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE   •Makeup: Source Organics •Hair: Kozeta    •Florist: Regan Jacobs •Photographer: Jonni Super •Videographer: Mitch Bellman •Music: Pat Allcock, Kevin Fox, Fergus Hambleton •Venue: Bayview Golf and Country Club •Cantor: Arlene Moshe

A.J.’s Bar Mitzvah: January 27, 2022 A.J.’s bar mitzvah took place at the BAYT in Toronto, one very chilly morning in January.  A.J. was totally up for the ceremonial festivities, the party was to come a few months later, but for now, we were all good to go. The morning minyan was also ready to celebrate, and celebrate they did. AJ read beautifully from the Torah and spoke with compassion and feelings. Once torah reading was out of the way, heartfelt speeches were to follow.  A delicious take-home breakfast was handed out and then it was over… for now. We stayed for some family photos and to finally relax from the mornings hectic pace. Move on a few months, and it was party time. We all met at the York Mills Gallery for a wild Saturday night party. Bounce was on board to lay down some smokin’ tunes, dancers at the ready, this was going to be one wild party… and it began.  First, while the sun still shining, we took family photos outdoors in the new courtyard.  Then, inside we did go to schmooze before the hora and general party-ness began.  Hora, speeches, dancing, tiny donuts, you can’t go […]
