OneFamily Fund Hike: Israel 2017 – Golan The 10th annual OneFamily Hike this year was spectacular. We ascended up into the Golan Heights, and my 6th year as the OneFamily photographer took me into ‘uncharted’ territory. This was our largest hike, almost 90 participants. It was also the return of ParaTrek, a company that takes disabled hikers to places they would never be able to hike. The kibbutz this year was host to an amazing group of hikers; we laughed, cried, and came together as one after 5 days on the trail. Mazel Tov to everyone. Nikki & Daniel’s Wedding: Oct 1, 2017 So if you’ve never been to a Cowboy Wedding, you have to put it on your bucket list. This one was a blast down to the mechanical bull… but more about that later, let’s go back to the beginning. The morning started out just like any other wedding morning, Ben and I headed off to the elegant Richmond Hill Country Club to meet up with Nikki who was enjoying a hair and make-up indulgence. I photographed the general revelry and then headed off to photograph Daniel where things were way more chilled… like the whiskey. We all met up for a ‘reveal’ outside said Country Club, and headed in for a special ceremony officiated by the lovely Rabbi Erin Polansky. The whole day came together so nicely by event planner extraordinaire, Angela Zaltsman, A to Z Event Management. A delicious brunch ensued followed by some wonderful photos down by the bridge. Fast forward through the afternoon, and we’re now at the Rock ‘n Horse for the above-mentioned ‘cowboy wedding’. This extravaganza included barstools with saddles, cowboy hats, and the obligatory mechanical bull. One can only sum up the evening as…yea-ha!!! Mara & Josh’s Wedding: Sept 9, 2017 – Camp Arowhon Algonquin Park This was one of my favourite weekends of the wedding season, spent at Camp Arowhon with Mara and Josh as it was their…. WEDDING!!! Mara and Josh make a wonderful couple and this wedding really brought that to the fore. Everyone stayed over in their own log cabin, and made it seem like we were all back at camp again, just like in our teenage years. Canoes were a-paddlin’, climbing ropes a-hanging, you could go anywhere and do anything, unlike actual summer camp :-). The place looked fantastic, all decked out for a celebration to end all celebrations. The morning started with me wandering around camp and photographing whomever and whatever. I made my way to Mara getting dressed and then over to Josh. We had a special reveal on the dock and then crept a way to get some private photos before taking portraits with the family. Finally on to the ceremony… yes, the ceremony. Quite an entrance was made by both parties, one aquatic and the other equine, just your typical entrance, y’know. Serena & Andrey’s Wedding: August 18, 2017 This was one fantastic celebration at an amazing venue, Casa Loma. Ben and I started photographing in the morning, Serena and Andrey getting dressed and preparing for the day at the Adelaide Hotel in downtown Toronto. We then left downtown and headed to ‘the reveal’ which took place in the lush green gardens of Casa Loma. There were some tears, but that’s expected. The ceremony was rousing and exuberant. I like this minister, he had everyone on their feet clapping and yelling before the couple marched the aisle. After the celebration, the traditional tea ceremony capped off the pleasantries of the evening before a delicious dinner, heart felt speeches, and on to some crazy party action. This was a fantastic start to the weekend, and an amazing party. Thank you for having us photograph and celebrate with you guys. OneFamily – A Taste for Life: May 24, 2017 I had the honour of photographing the OneFamily Fund dinner, “A Taste for Life“, at the stunning Artemano gallery earlier this week. This is the second year I photographed the event, and it surpassed last year’s dinner. The gallery is gorgeous; exquisite modern reclaimed wood furniture set in an idyllic breathtaking space. From the delicious food to the smooth jazz, the evening was bound to be first class. This subject for the evening is heavy yet uplifting, OneFamily Fund is committed to providing hope and support to those in Israel who have been affected by terrorism. This was our largest group, around 80 hikers. 2016 was delightfully unique as we welcomed ParaTrek, a company which supports and provides hikes for physically disabled hikers. Joe & Elle’s Wedding: August 6, 2016 Ben and I photographed the wedding of Joe and Elle two weeks ago at the beautiful STRUCK Contemporary Gallery in Downtown Toronto. This venue is pretty cool, hip modern artwork on the walls; a site to behold. The ceremony to follow was in Andrew Richard Designs. These kids had a blast. I started out with Elle as she got ready, and then headed over the Joe’s place. The big reveal was just that, a BIG reveal. So cute. We all headed to the Brickworks for some family photos, and then myself, Ben, and the couple retreated into some of the Brickworks cooler spaces. The ceremony and party ROCKED… thanks to one of the most unusual bands I have ever encountered… Jumple. These guys ‘killed’. So, there you have it… a long day and a crazy sweet night. Victoria & Troy’s Wedding: 10th October, 2015 I have known Victoria and Troy for a few year, and really like this couple. This wedding was something special. Two people in love, enjoying an amazing day with their friends and family. I photographed these two when they got engaged, we were down at the beach near Lake Ontario. I knew then that this wedding would be a fun one; tons of energy and style. The engagement pictures were pretty cool, and made the wedding so much easier to photograph. The day started out with me taking photos of Vickie, and then Troy. They did not see each other until the ceremony which made for some excitement. Troy looked dashingly handsome, while Vickie looked radiant. Laughter ensued, and nuptials were over. We then headed out for some photos, and more fun. The party was hardcore as the night progressed. Katy & David’s Wedding: 20th September, 2015 I don’t know where to start with this wedding, it was by far the wildest I have seen in a while. From the horah (the most intense I have ever experienced) to the dancing, food, warm and loving words spoken between family and friends. It was such a special day. We started out at the salon with hair and make-up (such an amazing atmosphere), giggling girls and moms. I headed off to David’s place where we were far more relaxed in our getting ready. We finally headed down to Cedarvale Park Bridge for a special reveal and photo-shoot. What a great couple. Portraits photographed across from the York Mills Gallery proved to be spectacular. The laughter and joking continued inside to the badeken, ceremony, and finally the party. This was no small affair; delicious food, heartfelt speeches, and two of the warmest families being brought together under the chuppah. All in all, it was a perfect day for a perfect wedding.
