Ezra’s Bar Mitzvah: November 5, 2023 I love these two-part events, a rehearsal a few days before at Adath Israel, and the Sunday lunch celebration at the Richmond Hill Golf & Country Club.  Let’s start at the beginning… I met up with this whole gang including grandparents at Adath Israel for a rehearsal.  My second time around with this family, Ezra knew exactly what to do.  We headed off for a little walk about Adath, added some kids, then finally parents and grandparents.  We ended up at the torah for those trad ‘bar mitzvah’ photos.  Fast forward a few days, when nerves have abated, and we were here for a little party at the RHCC.  This is where the fun starts, Amazing food, DJ Kings holding down mic and dance duties, heartfelt speeches, even the weather held out so we were able to photograph outside.  I like this kid, not the typical teenager.  I look forward to the last simcha in a few years.  Mazel Tov guys, way to go.   All the Photos: HERE

Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah: November 2, 2023 My final time around the block with this family, it was Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah at Beth Emeth.  We met up in the morning just as the sun was rising (thanks a lot, daylight saving), and we were good to go.  Jake and I did our little walk-about, taking photos and chatting about stuff.  We added in the kids who by now, were ‘mitzvah pros’, before parents and grandparents joined in (also pros).  Once photos were done, and the sun was up, we headed into the small sanctuary were Rabbi Morrison was ready to make this little guy a man.  The ceremony was beautiful, and Jacob was spectacular.  Ceremony over, we headed upstairs for a bite to eat.  This party was great, a lunch with some light piano, charming speeches, and delicious food.  Mazel Tov guys, way to go.   The Story of Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE

Romy’s Bat Mitzvah: October 28, 2023 Once again, Congregation Habonim delivers, what a wonderful shul to photograph in, the lighting and the opportunity, it’s modern but approachable.  What I am saying is, you can’t really go wrong in here.  Enter Romy… we hit it off right away.  We set out for a little walk-about, some camera time before the younger sibs wanted to shine in front of my lens.  We added parents, then grandparents and cousins, I think I photographed everyone who was there before the service even started (at least that’s what it felt like).  Anyway, service… well you can’t go wrong here either. Enter Rabbi Aviva Rajsky, she was fantastic, as usual, accompanied by Tom Belman on guitar, you would be hard pressed to find a better duo to officiate your bar or bat mitzvah than these two.  Back to Romy, she was amazing.  Confident and graceful, she read from the torah beautifully and delivered a wonderful d’var.  We wrapped up the ceremony and made our way to a delicious lunch, heartfelt speeches, and good ol’ schmoozing.  Way to go guys, such a great morning. Elizabeth’s Bat Mitzvah: October 28, 2023 This was a venue I had not been to before, a venue called Grace.  It was a pretty cool space, I must say.  Very industrial but hip at the same time.  Moving on… as I think about this particular evening, what comes to mind are the shoes, and more specifically, the heels on these shoes… that’s what I will remember years from now.  But I digress.  Elizabeth was raring to go, we wandered around outside to get some photos before the sun set, and the temperature dropped.  The immediate family, and some extended family all ready to get in front of my camera before the celebration started.  ‘Cool’ Cantor Ben Silverberg was waiting inside to lay down a beautiful ceremony for Elizabeth, and he did just that.  Ceremony over, it was time to party, and Lucas from PURE Entertainment was ready to turn this party on it’s head (not an expression I’ve ever used, btw), but he was ready to shake this party up and make it the best it could be… and then some.  Delicious food from Toben, an amazing team of dancers and DJ’s, and family and friends who were ready to […]

Jack’s Bar Mitzvah: October 26, 2023 My family loves this restaurant, so when I found out that Jack’s bar mitzvah was going to be held here, I was elated.  It is such a cool space, this Stock Restaurant; different, modern yet cozy, such a hip vibe for a mitzvah. I took Jack outside for a little photoshoot before inviting the brothers and the rest of the family to join in.  We stayed outside as long as we could before heading inside for the ceremony.  Rabbi David Cooper was on hand to officiate, and everyone was ready to roll.  Jack was great, did exactly what he had to do with confidence and charm.  Ceremony over, it was time for a delicious dinner, speeches, and a party vide, which included setting up some high rollers for the future.  Mazel Tov guys, way to go.   The Story of Jack Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE

Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah: October 22, 2023  This was a two part event in three locations.  We started out at Beit Rayim synagogue for some rehearsal photos with the torah, before heading out to a park not far away where we could settle into family photos surrounded by nature.  We followed up at The Factory on Steeles where an amazing party was to be had. Jacob and I head out into the late afternoon sunshine to photograph before inviting his sib, parents, and finally the whole family to join in.  This was quite a group.  We gad some schmooze time set aside before the main event was to start.  Dave Monaco from the Magen Boys was holding court on the mic, and brought this party to it’s knees.  Jacob was in fine form; dancing, speeching, schmoozing, all until the wee hours.  What a great weekend guys, mazel tov.   The Story of Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE   •Clothing (Mitzvah): North Boys      •Shoes (Mitzvah): North Boys     •Clothing (Mom): Laura Petites, Reitmans      •Clothing (Dad): Hudson’s Bay •Invitations: Paperless Post     •Jewellery: Michael Hill      •Makeup: Taylor Switzer      •Hair: Taylor Switzer        •Decor: Elle Balloons  •Giveaways: MTC Promotions •Photographer: Jonni Super      •DJ […]

Ryan’s Bar Mitzvah: October 21, 2023 My second time around with this wonderful gang, I was happy to venture up once again to the Maple Downs Golf Club after not being there for quite a few months.  This was a rainy day, so the challenge was to get at least some photos outside before being relegated to the inside sanctum of the club house.  Ryan was great, we wandered around the ground, finding interesting places to shoot, and looking for a little bit of intrigue.  We added in the rest of the gang, and all extended family before heading into the sanctuary where Ben Silverberg was waiting patiently to officiate over the service.  The Cool Cantor was on form this day, cracking them jokes and working the crowd.  We wrapped the ceremony before heading down to the first floor of the clubhouse where an amazing breakfast was waiting for us.  Hora, speeches, laughter, and of course candy was the order of the day.  Mazel Tov guys, great job.   The Story of Ryan’s Bar Mitzvah: Selected Photos HERE All the Photos: HERE

Rebecca’s Bat Mitzvah: October 14, 2023  Finally, the last one is done.  This journey that started a few COVID years ago has come to it’s natural conclusion… and Rebecca, number #4 has become a women in the Jewish tradition. We all met at Magnolia on Steeles for a wonderful ceremony and party.  I started with Rebecca outside, industrial landscape be damned, we just had fun. Add some kids, a couple of parents, some extended family, and you have yourself a beautiful photoshoot pre-ceremony.  Not the warmest of days, mind you, we were happy to finally go inside and get warm.  The ever delightful Moshe Saadon was on hand to officiate over this wonderful simcha.  Ceremony over, it was now time to party.  Lucas from PURE Entertainment was going to show these people what it means to party hard.  He knows how to bring the house down, and off we went on this mitzvah party ride.  What a great night.  Rebecca, you were fantastic, Mazel Tov. Ryan & Courtney B’nei Mitzvah: October 12, 2023 Photography by: Justine Ryan and Courtney’s B’nei Mitzvah took place on a cool fall morning at Beth Emeth. Everyone arrived bright and early looking very sharp in their fancy attire. Ryan looked dapper in his blue suit and Courtney looked gorgeous in her cream dress. Everyone was photo-ready and excited for the morning ahead. I started off doing mini-sessions with Ryan and Courtney. Both siblings were a pleasure to work with. They were very personable and posed so easily. I then brought in the kids’ parents family for photos outside. We finally moved indoors for photos with the grandparents. I loved watching them smile affectionately at their grandchildren, so proud!  After the portraits, the Main Sanctuary beaconed for a beautiful service led by Rabbi Morrison. Ryan and Courtney did a fantastic job reading from the Torah, singing hebrew songs, and making speeches to their family and friends. Well done, guys! You rocked it!  After the ceremony, everyone went upstairs for brunch. There was a delicious spread of lox, cream cheese, egg and tuna salad, coffee, and tasty desserts. Contemporary guitar musicians got everyone into a relaxed, celebratory mood. Everyone enjoyed schmoozing.  Guys, […]

In fact, he was my first student, so it is beautiful to circle back… but that’s not why we were here today, we were there for Jaiden and to celebrate her coming of age. She was stellar, we took a little walk around the neighbourhood to get some solo Jaiden photos before adding her older sister, parents, and grandparents. She looked beautiful, in fact both kids looked stunning. They have both grown up so much. The ceremony was warm and friendly as per cantor Moshe Saadon, as always, affable and charismatic. We finished the ceremony and the Magan Boys were on deck to throw down an amazing party.
