Ethan’s Bar Mitzvah Rehearsal: October 16, 2026
This Friday had me filling in for my dear friend Justine Apple, photographing a Bar Mitzvah rehearsal. And here I was, back at the Family Shul for round number two! This time it was Ethan’s turn. I do love the neighbourhood around this synagogue, it always lends itself to some interesting and creative photography, with plenty of little spots to explore and backgrounds to play with. Ethan and I started with a little walkabout, just the two of us, wandering around, chatting and finding some cool places to shoot. He was great, totally up for the adventure and happy to play along. Once we’d had our fun, we invited the rest of the family outside to join us. A little more wandering, a little more photography and a whole lot of family fun. Eventually, the grandparents from both sides made their grand entrance, and now we had the whole gang. Time to round up the troops! Some photos inside, some outside, a little mixing and matching, and before long we had everyone exactly where we wanted them. Finally, we headed inside for the obligatory photos with the Torah. The Family Shul is a wonderfully bright space that photographs beautifully, and today was no exception. And just like that, another rehearsal in the bag. A lovely afternoon with a terrific family, time for the main event! Mazel tov, Ethan! Enjoy Saturday, guys. Way to go!
