Jude’s Bar Mitzvah: October 3, 2026

This was my third and final Mitzvah with this family. We’re friends outside of the Mitzvah world, sharing my other true loves, music, cycling, and snowboarding. Jude’s dad and I go back over 30 years, so it’s been pretty special spending the last few years photographing this crew. And now, just like that, we’re done. Three kids, three Mitzvahs, it’s a wrap!  Jude’s Bar Mitzvah took place at Adath Israel, and by now this family are seasoned pros. We fell right back into the photography groove. I took Jude for a little walkabout around the synagogue, just hanging out, chatting and finding some interesting spots. Unlike his siblings’ Mitzvahs, where we ventured outside, this time we kept things indoors.  Eventually we rounded up the troops for family photos before heading into the sanctuary for the ceremony. A delicious lunch followed, complete with golf and ski simulators for the kids. The golf simulator, as it turns out, was a little foreshadowing of what was to come.  Fast forward a few days and we’re down at the driving range by the docks. A whole bunch of teenagers, a whole bunch of golf clubs and an alarming number of golf balls. Basically, everyone just whacking the shit out of them as far as humanly possible. Teenagers and a driving range. What could possibly go wrong?  Jude just wanted to introduce his crew to the fine art of golf, and honestly, what a great way to celebrate.  And there we have it. A lovely Mitzvah, a whole lot of fun and the third kid officially wrapped up.  Way to go, guys! It’s been a blast. I’ll see you on the ski hill!
