Jonah & Jordyn’s B’nei Mitzvah: Sept 9, 2017 Photographed by Jonni & Ben This was a fantastic rehearsal photo session, these kids were both stylin’ and chill at the Temple Sinai Synagogue. We had some family fun photos against the beautiful rock backdrop, and then went into the sanctuary for some mitzvah photos against the stained glass. I was done and Ben photographed the Saturday luncheon…. …What no doubt started as a very very long drive for this jewish family from Timmins, Ontario, culminated in a beautiful and elegant b’nei mitzvah.  The love this brother and sister combo had for each other as well as the rest of the family was evident from the first picture.  A great time was had by all, thanks for having us out.   The Story of this B’nei Mitzvah HERE All Photos HERE   •Cake: Grodzinski Bakery    •Decor: TWSS Balloons •DJ Entertainment: Fern Lindzon    •Photographer: Jonni Super & Ben Gaum •Venue: Temple Sinai •Caterer: L’Eat Catering

Chiara’s Bat Mitzvah: Sept 9, 2017 Photographer: Ben Chiara looked stunning right from the start.  Our photoshoot in Alexander Muir Park was special, it’s such a wonderful place to shoot.  The whole family was in fine spirits before the main event.  This group really knows how to throw a party, and they sure did. The Uptown Loft is always warm and inviting, and as usual the Magen Boys raised the roof. I could tell it would be pure energy right from the start.  The family did not disappoint as they partied long into the night.  You know when the parents are dancing harder than the kids….its going to be a fun evening… and it was.   The Story of Chiara’s Bat Mitzvah HERE All the Photos HERE   •Clothing (Mitzvah): Little Ones      •Decor: Smash Event Designs •DJ Entertainment: The Magen Boys    •Invitations: Cathy Vogel •Makeup: Kirsch Cosmetics •Hair: Dani Hair Studio •Party Planner: Sarah from the Uptown Loft •Photographer: Ben Gaum     •Venue: The Uptown Loft •Caterer: The Uptown Loft

Cody’s Bar Mitzvah: Sept 7, 2017 I always enjoy photographing at Beth Torah and this morning was no exception. Shooting inside the sanctuary during the day is always a pleasure, warm light streaming in through the windows creates a glow like no other.  Cody was great; outgoing and dignified.  He recited his portion eloquently and with enthusiasm. There seemed to be no shortage of the same enthusiasm from his group of friends in the back row, enthusiastically throwing candy at the appropriate time… with much enthusiasm 😉  What followed was a delicious luncheon and heartfelt speeches from all. This is a great way to spend the morning, thanks for having me bear witness to the celebration.   The story of the day HERE All photos HERE   •Clothing (Mitzvah): RALPH LAUREN •Shoes (Mitzvah): GOEX •Clothing (Mom): GRETA CONSTANTINE  •Decor: BEE AND BEE DESIGN •Florist: JONG YONG FLOWERS •Invitations: VOGUE INK   •Makeup: ALICIA NICOLE  •Party Planner: ALYSSA DOUGLAS •Photographer: JONNI SUPER      •Transportation: DIAL A LIMO •Venue: BETH TORAH •Caterer: LEVY’S KOSHER CATERING •Rabbi: YOSSI SAPPIRMAN

Max’s Bar Mitzvah: August 21, 2017 Well this was a lovely way to spend a Monday morning. I met Max and his parents at the Kehila Centre for a truly special Bar Mitzvah. We met early in the morning, managed to get some fantastic pictures in the garden before things got crazy… mitzvah style. Inside, the gorgeous chapel at synagogue was the perfect backdrop for this celebration. I love photographing here, so bright and spacious. Max did a great job reading from the Torah and performing just as he should.  A delicious lunch and lively hora followed.  I really love this family, so warm and giving, totally evident by what their guests and friends had to say about them. My only regret, I may not get to see them until Max’s wedding… quite a few years away. 😉   The Story of the Day HERE All photos HERE

Jonah’s Bar Mitzvah: August 7, 2017 Jonah’s bar mitzvah morning started out beautifully. The family has a wonderful little roundabout near the home which was the perfect backdrop for photos. We caught the best morning light, and then it was off to the Beth Emeth Synagogue for a quick rehearsal followed by the ceremony. Jonah was fantastic; read his portion beautifully and played the part just like the young adult he has become. Brunch was delicious and plentiful, and the dancing was boisterous and lively, all thanks to an amazing one-man-band. This was also the first time I saw someone balance a chair on the chin while dancing.  Thanks for having me photograph you all, it was a pleasure. Looking forward to the next one.   The story of the day HERE All Photos HERE

Nicole’s Bat Mitzvah: June 25, 2017 This was my last mitzvah of the season before summer camp and wedding season, and it was the perfect way to end the year. From the first photograph of the night so the last limbo, there was nothing too crazy or too wild which would not be tried. Nicole was amazing, spoke beautifully and carried the night with such grace. We took fantastic pictures outside before the party but she was just too anxious to see her friends so we cut it short, but who would’ve thought halfway through the evening, the fire alarm went off and we were all outside again. Hasn’t happened to me before but it made for a wonderful opportunity for Bounce Entertainment to bring out their two drummers and entertain the crowd as the sun set. Stunning! Fire alarm over, it was back inside to finish off the night in style.  This is such a warm South African family, (being South African myself, I feel I’m an authority and my opinion is valid), and these guys really hit a home run.  An wonderful party for an amazing young woman.   The story of the day HERE All Photos HERE

Sarah & Abby’s B’not Mitzvah: June 24, 2017 These twin sisters were such a delight, they totally made my week and my weekend. Along with the younger brother Jack, who is totally adorable, we had a great time at the Alexander Muir Memorial Gardens.  An outdoor photo-shoot for the family, then into the Habonim Synagogue for some Torah pictures, and finally wrapped it up on Saturday night for a party room gathering extraordinaire; this wasn’t just any condo party room, this place was amazing. The girls were great, I had a fun time behind the camera while they had an equally good time out front. Laughing, smiling, and giggling was definitely the order of the day.   The story of the day HERE All photos HERE

Jack’s Bar Mitzvah: June 25, 2017 I met Jack and his family for a wonderful rehearsal and ceremony/lunch at Beth Tzedec Synagogue on Bathurst. So much fun, this is a lovely bunch. We met many months ago to discuss the events and things turned out fabulously.    Jack and his sister Kayla are delightful; joking, playing and generally carrying on like a pair of best friends. Jack is pretty smooth and dare I say tall for a 13-year-old… I’ve never met anyone with size 16 shoes.  I love photographing in the synagogue, it is so bright and offers so much in the way of interesting angles and perspectives. Love the silhouettes here that present themselves waiting to be captured. This was no exception and it did not disappoint. As usual, Beth Tzedec offers up a delicious brunch and the DJ on site, Phoenix, was remarkably good. Thanks guys, I hope you love the photos as I do.     The Story of the Day HERE All Photos HERE

Ayla’s Bat Mitzvah: June 18, 2017 This is one laid-back South African family that I was very happy to photograph (being South African myself) at The Warehouse a few weeks back. Very chilled and not at all flustered, these beautiful sisters, and there are four of them, stole the show. Bat mitzvah girl was dashing and elegant in her evening dress. It was so nice to hear the speeches that show the importance of family and everyone getting along so well together. I’m sure this is one fun Friday night around the dinner table. Magen Boys once again, raised the roof, with a special appearance of the Chief Magen himself, and these kids did party well into the night.  Loved the drummer, very cool… and the limbo was the lowest I’ve ever seen at a party, and I’ve seen quite a few.  Thanks for the great night.   All Photos HERE The Story of the Day HERE   •Audio-Visual: Magen Boys •Clothing (Mitzvah): K. Harrison’s Bar Mitzvah: June 10, 2017 Harrison’s Bar Mitzvah rehearsal took place in the beautiful Beth Emeth Synagogue in Toronto; fantastic stained glass windows and a warm and inviting space. My favourite photo of the month was from this rehearsal, Harrison dressing the Torah, his face is reflected in the back of his Dad’s glasses. These guys were a fun group, Harrison’s two sisters are a delight, trying to keep up with them will be a chore in the future, I’m sure. Lot’s of running around. Harrison was calm and relaxed and that made for a smooth rehearsal.  I was done and Ben took over photographing the party… … Well you know when there are Maritimers involved, it’s going to be a good one.  I have known this family since we both lived out east, and it was nice to reconnect.  The eZone was a ton of fun and kids and parents took full advantage of the amazing activities it has to offer.  Harrison and his high-energy gang kept me on my toes the entire time, back and forth, in and out, ducking here and there, but always fun.   The Story of the Day HERE All Photos HERE   •Cake: Le Délice Fine […]

Naomi was fantastic, such a little powerhouse. Pictures don’t capture adequately the beautiful song she sang for her father, you will have to track down the video for that. It was uniquely engaging. Eli’s Bar Mitzvah Rehearsal: June 4, 2017 Eli’s Rehearsal took place at the fabulous new Forest Hill Jewish Centre on Spadina just north of St. Clair. The space is just fantastic to photograph in, natural light and bright. Eli was great, coming with me for a walk around the synagogue, reading from the Torah, posing with family, just about everything I asked him to do. This was a long three-hour session, and by the end, even though there was a hint of ‘fading away from hunger’, he still remained upbeat and positive. It was a pleasure to photograph this family. Jake’s Bar Mitzvah: May 27, 2017 Jake’s bar mitzvah rehearsal took place in the in Beth Tzedec Synagogue On Bathurst Street just south of Eglinton. The kids were great, Jake and his brother definitely making the most out of this simcha.  A good looking family and easy to photograph, they came across as playful and warm. I was only able to shoot the rehearsal but Ben was there to capture the night party… … and what a blast it was.  A super original swank downtown venue, Megan Boys entertainment, and a cool family… it was a recipe for a perfect evening and it did not disappoint.   I had so much fun at this event.  All of the family and friends in attendance were determined to make this a night one that nobody was going to forget.  Its not often you attend a bar mitzvah where the parents and adults are ‘out-partying’ the kids.  Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this celebration.  What a blast!!   The Story of the Day HERE All photos HERE   •Clothing (Mitzvah): Crawford •Decor: MB Designs – Marla Brown •DJ Entertainment: Magen […]

Naomi’s Bat Mitzvah: May 27, 2017 Naomi’s Bat Mitzvah Rehearsal took place at Bait Rayim at the Reisman Centre on Bathurst. This synagogue always plays into a photographer’s hand; beautiful white walls create a stunning backdrop which bathes everyone in warm white light.   The chapel is so inviting and allows for a fun photo shoot. I must add that Naomi and her sister Alana were quite special at this simcha.  They both looked stunning during the rehearsal and partied well into the night. Speaking of the party, this took place at the Eagles Nest Golf Club north on Dufferin. I have photographed here before and was very happy to be back again. This too is a photographers dream, sweeping green manicured lawns create a backdrop which could only be envied by photographers of yore.  This was a truly a wild and crazy Argentinian party to end all wild and crazy Argentinian parties, going all the way to 1AM without stopping to breathe.  Just when I thought thought things were slowing down… around 11pm, they kicked it up another notch. Magen Boys once again, made this dance floor come alive, and lived up to their name.  My only regret is that both daughters are now past mitzvah […]

Aiden’s Bat Mitzvah: May 6, 2017 Be forewarned… if you are going to a Bain event, you better be ready to party!!  This family does not stop for anyone or anything.  From the moment I got there till the moment I hobbled home, the party was still going strong. Jonni had to take over as I was DONE!!  The Uptown Loft is one of our favourite places to photograph; this Magen Boys venue sure packs a punch.  The vibe, the energy, the food…..always a killer party.  Aiden looked beautiful in blue and presented her mitzvah exquisitely.  A highlight of the ceremony was Aiden and Haley singing quite beautifully together in harmony.
